MY STORY

I was making video for the internet before Instagram and TikTok existed. So when I say I have experience, I mean it.

I’ve spent more than 15 years producing, shooting and editing video—from newsrooms and documentary sets to businesses here in Hawaiʻi.

I’ve worked with organizations including TIME, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and HBO Films. But one part of the work has always stayed with me: teaching other people how to do it.

At UC Berkeley, I taught journalism students camera, lighting, sound and editing. At TIME, I trained reporters to work on camera and produce video. Today, I help businesses build those same skills in-house.

The technology has changed dramatically. The fundamentals haven’t. You need to know what to say, how to capture it well, how to edit it efficiently—and how to build a system you can actually keep using.

That’s what I help teams do.

MY APPROACH

I usually start by asking a lot of questions.

  • What are you hoping video will do for your business?
  • Who are you trying to reach?
  • What do you want people to understand about you?
  • What feels comfortable—and what absolutely doesn’t feel like you?

A lot of the people I work with have been doing what they do for decades. They have an incredible amount of knowledge, but very little of that knowledge is coming across in their videos.

That’s what I love figuring out: What do you know that your customers would benefit from knowing too?

Then we build from there.
